Two experimental fields:

(1)  Roofscapes: lower old town of Aarau, Chicago and the prairie from the Sears Tower, Florence: view from the Dome cuppola

(2)  Scenarios of climate development: nature conquers glacial landscapes or a new ice age? Case studies Alp Grüm and Morteratsch

The transfomation project: My cell phone photos converted or supplemented with color out of the tube with a brush or spatula or combined: new color sounds, different light tones, more spatial depth or plasticity, stronger accents, differently focused, ecc.

Sources of inspiration:

These picture stories also represent a kind of “picturesque diary” and are dealt with in detail in bundle (slipcase No. 6, see under “publications”).

Jordan and Saudi Arabia (Northwest)

Explorations of the historical and archaeological tour Amman, through Jordania into Wadi Rum and further in the footsteps of the Nabateans, i.e. along the old incense route and later “Hedjaz railway” in the north-western region of Saudi Arabia (al-Ula, Madain Salih, Tabuk) later back to Agava on the Red Sea to the center of the Nabateans in Petra and finally along the east bank of the Jordanian valley to the Dead Sea.

Oman

The Sultanate of Oman lies between the Indian Ocean and the desert that extends to Saudi Arabia. In between, a high mountain range rises to almost 3’000 meters. On both sides, facing the Indian Ocean and the desert region, there are oases that are fed by water-bearing wadis. The south of Oman – Dhofar – is the ancient incense region from where the caravan routes led to Petra.

Morocco and Algeria

A journey 50 years ago led to Morocco (oasis valleys of Draa and Dadès in the Sahara) and to the Algerian Sahara, where the original oasis town of el-Oued was impressive.
